Section 2 of Article 22 of Law 34/2002, of July 11, on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce (hereinafter, LSSI), in relation to Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 27, 2016, on the General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter, GDPR) and Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, on the Protection of Personal Data and guarantee of digital rights (hereinafter, LOPDGDD), establishes that:

  • Service providers may use data storage and retrieval devices on recipients’ terminal equipment, provided that they have given their consent after being provided with clear and comprehensive information about their use, particularly regarding the purposes of data processing, in accordance with the provisions of the Personal Data Protection regulations.
  • Where technically possible and effective, the recipient’s consent to the processing of data may be provided by using appropriate parameters of the browser or other applications.
  • The above shall not prevent technical storage or access for the sole purpose of transmitting a communication over an electronic communications network or, to the extent strictly necessary, for the provision of an information society service explicitly requested by the recipient.

The GDPR, in its recital 30, mentions these technologies and their impact on data protection, stating that individuals may be associated with online identifiers provided by their devices, applications, tools, and protocols, such as internet protocol addresses, session identifiers in the form of “cookies,” or other identifiers such as radio frequency identification tags. This can leave traces that, when combined with unique identifiers and other data received by servers, can be used to create profiles of individuals and identify them.

This cookie policy has been revised in accordance with the new cookie usage rules published by the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) on July 28, 2020, amending the Guide on the use of cookies to adapt it to the Guidelines on consent modified in May 2020 by the European Data Protection Committee (EDPC) (Guidelines 05/2020) on consent. Specifically, technical measures have been taken to ensure that the “continue browsing” option is not configured as an option to obtain consent, and that “cookie walls” are not implemented.

In compliance with the established regulations, we provide you with information about the cookies used on this website.

We inform you that this website uses both first-party and third-party “cookies” to provide you with a better experience and service. By browsing or using our services, the user does not accept the use we make of “cookies,” but rather their express consent is collected, and without blocking, in case of rejection, such browsing capability.

The following cookies are exempt from compliance with the obligations established in Article 22.2 of the LSSI:

  • They only allow communication between the user’s device and the network.
  • They strictly provide a service explicitly requested by the user.

“Cookies” are small files that some platforms, such as web pages, can install on your computer, smartphone, tablet, connected TV, etc., when accessing them. Their functions can be very diverse: storing your browsing preferences, collecting statistical information, allowing certain technical features, storing and retrieving information about the browsing habits or preferences of a user or their device, to the point, on occasions, depending on the information they contain and the way you use your device, of recognizing you. A cookie is stored on a computer to personalize and facilitate the user’s maximum navigation. “Cookies” play a very important role, improving the user’s experience of using the website.

In other words, a cookie is a piece of information sent by a website and stored in the user’s browser so that the website can consult the user’s previous activity. A cookie does not identify only a person, but it may contain a combination of computer-browser-user.

Cookies are used to differentiate users and act differently depending on them. One use of cookies is to identify a user on a website. Users typically identify themselves by entering their credentials on a validation page; cookies allow the server to know that the user is already validated or browsing the website and therefore can be allowed access to services or perform operations that are restricted to unidentified users.

Why are they important?

  • From a technical point of view, they allow websites to work more agilely and tailored to users’ preferences, such as storing language, country currency, or detecting the access device.
  • They establish levels of protection and security that prevent or hinder cyber attacks against the website or its users.
  • They allow media managers to know statistical data collected in cookies to improve the quality and user experience of their services.
  • They serve to optimize the advertising we show users, offering what best suits their interests.

According to the entity that manages the device or domain from which cookies are sent and the data obtained, we can distinguish:

First-party cookies: those sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a device or domain managed by the publisher itself and from which the service requested by the user is provided.

Third-party cookies: those sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a device or domain that is not managed by the publisher, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through cookies. In the event that cookies are served from a device or domain managed by the publisher itself, but the information collected through them is managed by a third party, they cannot be considered first-party cookies if the third party uses them for its own purposes (e.g., improving the services it provides or providing advertising services on behalf of other entities).

According to the purpose for which the data obtained through “cookies” are processed, the website may use:

Technical cookies: those that allow users to navigate through a website, platform, or application and use the different options or services that exist in it, including those that the editor uses to allow the management and operation of the website and enable its functions and services.

Preference or customization cookies: those that allow the user to access the service with certain features that can differentiate their experience from that of other users, such as language, the number of search results to show when the user performs a search, the appearance or content of the service depending on the type of browser through which the user accesses the service or the region from which the user accesses the service, etc.

Analysis or measurement cookies: those that allow the party responsible for them to monitor and analyze the behavior of users of the websites to which they are linked, including quantifying the impacts of ads. The information collected through this type of cookies is used to measure the activity of websites, applications, or platforms and to create browsing profiles of users of these services to make improvements based on the analysis of usage data.

Behavioral advertising cookies: those that store information on the behavior of users obtained through the continuous observation of their browsing habits, which allows the development of a specific

profile to display advertising based on it.

According to the expiration date, the used cookies may have the following types of expiration:

Session cookies: those designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a website. They are usually used to store information that is only of interest to keep for the provision of the service requested by the user on a single occasion (e.g., a list of purchased products) and disappear at the end of the session.

Persistent cookies: those in which data are still stored on the terminal and can be accessed and processed during a period defined by the cookie’s controller, which can range from a few minutes to several years. This website uses both temporary session cookies and permanent cookies.

In some cases, if any of these cookies are disabled, you may not receive our content and services correctly. In other cases, the website may continue to function. In any case, we wish to inform you that the information captured by these cookies about the use of our website and the success of the advertisements displayed on it allows us to improve our services and obtain income that allows us to offer you many contents in a less burdensome way.
